Description
The RM27-01 is very light and pretty durable. It also uses some exotic materials. The watch case is slightly larger than the original and has a grayish color being made out of carbon with nanotubes. No idea what that means but the case looks plastic if you didn't know otherwise. Though of course it is harder than plastic. The screws and much of the metal is titanium.
The in-house made Richard Mille mechanical movement is manually wound and features the time with a tourbillon complication. The skeletonization work is fantastic as Richard Mille continues to produce some of the best looking, high-end, modern mechanical movements around. Richard Mille takes a lot of pride in how their movements are perceived, which no doubt is a huge part of their half million dollar price points.
The watch is 40mm wide, has a standard Richard Mille tonneau case shape, and weighs under 4 grams! That is with the strap. Inside is a complex mechanical movement with a tourbillon complication. Much of the watch is made from something called LITAL, which is a lithium aluminum alloy. There are all sort of other fancy things going on in the watch as well to help give it that under 20 grams weight
